Being an effective emcee for
an event requires a distinct skill set. Unfortunately, many people believe that
anyone can emcee an event - that the funny guy at the office can handle the
role, some will say.
The role of the master of ceremonies is very important to the success of a launch event or a gala dinner event. The tone of the entire event is set up by the master of ceremony. How well the program flows and connects with each part of the entertainment and speakers depends totally on how the emcee brings it all together.
Some steps we believe help
to make your event a success.
1) Prepare Thoroughly
:
We always insist on a
meeting with the organizers of the event so that it allows our emcees to understand
the purpose of the event and discuss the detailed plan of the day. We find out
as much as we can about the background or the company, why they are holding the
event and who are the guests who will be attending. This helps to give our emcees
a well-rounded picture of what to expect on the day of event.
We usually arrive about an hour before guest arrival to check that all requirements are in place. This time allows our master of ceremony to incorporate any last minute changes into the event, do a sound check and get familiarized with the stage and entrance and exits of performers and speaker. This time before the event allows our emcees to also have a chat with the client and any speakers, should they have any concerns.
3) Prepared for the
Unexpected Happening
Things in life rarely pan out as we expect and events are no exception. In spite of all the planning and preparation, the event can get off track. One cannot plan precisely for the unexpected event. Our emcees have many years of experience dealing with circumstances and can quickly cover up any confusion arising from the unforeseen circumstances. Our emcees are able to cut or expand on planned material on the fly, often based on circumstances we have no control over, such as a last minute agenda change or technical problems.
Call on us should you have an event you'd like for us to quote on, we'd be most happy to suggest the right emcee to make your event a wonderful experience.
